Well this is definately part of social networking. Today anyone with a computer can create a website, with a video camera can make a movie, and an opinion can create a blog or for those that want people to actually hear them – a podcast!
Podcasting can be a great learning tool, for anyone who has speakers on their computer, or any kind of mp3 player. There are really some great podcasts for any subject, from a lot of high end schools such as MIT & Harvard. I have several that I have downloaded from iTunes on subjects ranging from meditation, to geekcasts, to web design. I have found that there are some that are pretty good and others that are very old and shouldn’t be there anymore! They are great to listen to in the car, since I have a long commute to most anywhere. There are some downsides to listening to them in the car – it’s hard to stop and take notes, or write down something that I want to check out on my own!

hahaha yes i see your point about how some can lack creativeness, but at the same time, you cant blame the podcasts for that, blame the makers. You can have some very boring text as well. I was bringing up the potential podcasts can have to be fun and creative while still being informational.
I think that people will validate podcasts and vodcasts. If a user gets great feedback for their creation then they should continue with their format in presentation, the user/audience determines whats good media!! If your info is unique and vital then the response will improve itself!! Thats why i love media and every aspect because the public can lift you to new heights or crash your plans quickly!! I liked that link, didnt know about making money posting pod’s and vods!! That was really useful in my web design research, hopefully i can incorporate that into my design!!
Podcast are a great way to get the information you are looking for while on the go. I think that is what makes them so popular. Where do you see podcastings role in the web design world? I know that you can make money off of them, but wondering what role they actually play in web design itself.
